Karel Beran new Director of Products and Digital Innovations
September 2019BSC, the largest banking software house in the Czech Republic, hires the experienced professional Karel Beran (45), who will become Director of Products and Digital Innovations and will thus be responsible for BSC’s innovation activities. During his twenty-five year career he has worked at Arthur Andersen, Accenture or Komerční banka. It was at BSC that Beran launched his professional career years ago and now he is returning.
Karel Beran has experience from both IT and the banking sector. Already during his studies he co-developed first digital banking systems at BSC, including those for, among others, Citibank. At Accenture he worked on the development of Česká spořitelna’s digital banking for retail and corporate clients. Most recently he worked in the management of Komerční banka, where he was responsible for the transformation programme, strategic consultancy and development projects.
Karel Beran’s chief goal is to lead BSC to further innovations and the global expansion. “It is our goal to be the first choice for banks on their way to digital transformation and, at the same time, to be the global leader in digital banking systems. Our platform will significantly speed up digital transformation for banks and will make it much cheaper. At the same time, it will allow them to differentiate themselves from the competition, to make clients interested and to build a wide ecosystem well beyond the borders of traditional banking,” says Karel Beran.
In conquering the global markets BSC relies on its Digital Bank OS, a proprietary operating system for banks that will provide necessary functionality for digital distribution of banking products and, at the same time, will make it possible for banks to connect third-party services and applications. Banks can thus satisfy the complex needs of customers and go well beyond the limits of traditional banking. The trust of BSC in its banking operating system is proved by the company’s high investment. In 2018, 14% of company revenues of CZK 369 million was reinvested back into research and development.
